Jess, I got several weeks behind in my blog-reading and only just now read about your cancer ordeal. I am very proud of your strength! It’s very good to learn to lean on others a bit through things like this (although I am still REALLY picky about who they assign to bring me dinner when I am sick–is that mean?). My thyroid thing worked out well adn my hormone levels have returned to normal with two pills each day. If it’s still good mid-January, I get to go back to one pill per day. YAY! I must have been sick for a while, because now that I am not hopped up on thyroid speed and sleeping 8 hours at night instead of 4 or 5, I feel like it takes me FOREVER to get things done, but I suppose that’ better than cardiac arrest, right?
You asked me abotu the cancer diet (alkaline diet) last time– I heard about it from my old mission companion, Liz Baumgarten, who actually died in 2001 from melanoma. She outlived her diagnosis by 5 years, though, and even had a baby. She followed the diet that has been published by Dr. Robert Young. My chiro/nutirtionist gave me a pamphlet about it and told me to buy Dr. Young’s book, but I think I am going to follow the pamphlet and the Word of Wisdom on my own and see how it all works out. You can google it if you’re interested.
It’s crazy and miraculous, really, that any one if us is healthy when you learn about the symphony of things going on in the body. It’s also amazing the effect of one little thing malfunctioning. Anyway, I hope all is truly well with you! I wish we lived close–I think we and our kids would have so much fun doing holiday things (like the gingerbread we made today!)
