I can not catch a break. I just posted my annoying ordeal with flu that is still going on and it evaporated somewhere in cyberspace. My daughter is coughing in her room and coughing always puts me on edge because with her it often means a mess to clean up soon. Last week B spent 4 days in bed with the flu. The day he felt well enough to go to work I felt like I’d been hit by a frozen mack truck. Of course. One of the great hardships of motherhood is that you don’t get to lay around in bed and be sick. Two of the children are sick as well. Running a household while feeling a shiver from death is excruciating. I never knew how many times a day I have to get up and fix a meal, fix a sippy cup, fix a problem, change a diaper, feed the baby. And I never realized how much energy it takes to gather the children and put them in the car to go pick up my son from school. Ouch. The baby has not come down with flu so far (knock on wood). But I don’t know how long she’ll be able to escape with my infected breath on her all day. Poor little thing. One good thing I’m learning from this is to get to bed as soon as I can after the children are asleep. That way I get a good 6 hours before someone’s motrin wears off. I have never had a flu shot before. I’ve also never had the flu before. Next year I will be the first in line.
