I had a follow-up appointment yesterday for my thyroid cancer. I had an ultrasound and there is no sign of cancer regrowth! I also had some blood drawn and a flu shot. So far everything is looking good. When we get the blood results back we’ll be able to compare them [...]

I’m searching for those dead old glooms.
I set out for a time adrift.

I’ve set out for a time, adrift.
Forgetting all but litanies of self-reproach.
Forgetting all but empty words.
Forgetting all but mundane tasks.

Last night we were driving home in the dark through this old, creepy cemetery on our way home from some friend’s house. There are these wrought-iron archways at the entrance and exit and all the gravestones are very old. So are the crooked black trees. I’ll admit I felt a bit spooked but I was [...]

I have not had a lot of nice things to say about John McCain. Watching the debate tonight though, there is only one clear choice for me. McCain demonstrated restraint, integrity and experience in this debate. I thought McCain schooled Obama on small business, foreign policy, and health care. Interesting to me was how Obama’s [...]
